Diagnostic eye tests
Diagnostic tests are what let us see what the eye does not show on inspection, measure disease objectively, and compare over time whether a treatment is working. We have high-end equipment at each of our clinics.

How to prepare
- Come with someone. Several of these tests need the pupil dilated and you will not be able to drive afterwards.
- Bring the request from your doctor, and the authorization if you are coming through a health plan.
- Bring any previous tests you have, even from another institution. Comparing is part of the diagnosis.
- If you wear contact lenses, stop them before topography or PENTACAM: five days for soft lenses, two weeks for rigid ones.
- For angiography, tell us if you are allergic to contrast agents or have kidney disease.
Results
Most tests are performed and delivered the same day, and are interpreted by the specialist who requested them. A single test rarely gives the whole diagnosis: its value comes from reading it alongside the clinical exam and your previous studies.
Frequently asked questions
Do the tests hurt?
No. They are non-invasive, except for angiography, which requires a contrast agent injected into a vein. In that case the procedure is explained to you and your consent is taken.
How much time should I allow at the clinic?
Between 30 minutes and two hours depending on how many tests you need and whether dilation is required. We tell you the expected time for your case when you book.
Can I have the tests without a doctor's request?
These studies are indicated on the basis of a clinical assessment. If you do not have a request, the right first step is to book an eye exam.
Are they available at all three locations?
We have diagnostic equipment at each of our clinics. Availability of a specific test can vary by location, and is confirmed when you book.
